Kurran and the Wolfnotes

Kurran and the Wolfnotes debut single Whatabitch stands as the perfect introduction to the way this band have brought an unmistakable noughties twist to the alt-folk sound, with a playful hint of The Strokes complimenting the otherwise straight up trad-sound. New Yorker Kurran’s faltering, heartbroken croon and 1968 guitar jangle imbues the track with a basement bar sleaze.

Bombay Bicycle Club

Bombay Bicycle Club are an indie rock band from Crouch End, London led by frontman Jack Steadman (vocals, guitar, xylophone) together with Jamie MacColl (lead guitar, backing vocals), Ed Nash (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) and Suren de Saram (drums, guitar, backing vocals). Following the release of two EPs and their debut single Evening/Morning, the band released their debut album I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose in July 2009.

Fenech Soler

Producing highly polished gems of fantasy pop from their provincial bedroom studio, Fenech-Soler are unlikely purveyors of crowd shaking electro-funk. Having released their debut single Cult Of Romance on Alain Braxe’s Vulture label in June, Kings Cliffe quartet Fenech-Soler have teamed up with Moda Music, the new label from party heavyweights Moda. They also co-wrote the recent Groove Armada single Paper Romance which features lead singer Ben on vocals.

Stornoway are an alternative-pop band from Oxford comprising two groups of brothers, Brian Briggs (vocals/acoustic guitar), Jonathan Ouin (keys/banjo/electric guitar/cello) Rob Steadman (drums), Oliver Steadman (bass/electric guitar) and Adam Briggs (trumpet). The band, who formed in 2006, write melodic folk-tinged pop.
