Glasgow quartet Long-Distance release their stunning new single, Be A Man, tomorrow (16 March) and M has the exclusive premiere…
Since unveiling their debut Grail last year, the band have become regulars on the Scottish gig circuit, playing venues such as Nice and Sleazy, The Buff Club and The Record Factory.
In that short space of time, they’ve mastered a beautifully haunting sound, marked by frontman Scott Gibbins’ impassioned vocal which dips and soars to goosebumps-effect. If you’re a fan of the soulful murmurs of Sean Nicholas Savage and Perfume Genius, then step this way…
Explaining the story behind the song, Scott says: ‘Be a Man deals with the aftermath of losing my father and the struggle to fill his shoes and support my mother.
‘It touches on a number of situations that arose in those years after he passed away and how they affected my family. It’s one of our most emotional and fervent songs and we ended up recording much of the single live in order to catch that feeling.’
Profits from the single will be donated to the Simon Community Scotland charity, which works to combat the causes and effects of homelessness.
