Glitchy, experimental Edinburgh band Redolent are back with a brand new single, Kickhimintheshins, out now via Aspartame, and M has the premiere…
Since forming in 2012, the quartet have been proudly keeping things DIY, creating everything from their press shots to their videos entirely themselves. The likes of BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Clash, Amazing Radio and The Skinny have taken note of their propulsive sound, and they’ve already graced stages at Scotland’s acclaimed T In The Park and Belladrum festivals.
Kickhimintheshins is the second single to be taken from their debut EP, Sgitheanach, which will be released later this year. Singer, guitarist and keys player Robin Herbert tells M: ‘It’s an ecstatic song about fitba (football).
‘We tried to represent the feeling of endorphins released from frenetic games at night: on Astro turf, with orange lighting. That’s where I was trying to go with the artwork. The green and orange representing this.’
All soaring vocals and Aphex Twin-like soundscapes, it’s an ace track earmarked for fans of LCD Soundsystem and Holy Fuck.
