M meets: YolanDa Brown part one

Double Mobo Award winner, YolanDa Brown is a self taught saxophonist who is achieving her goal of changing the way people view jazz Music.

She has played with everyone form Alexander O’Neal, Mica Paris, The Temptations, Soweto Kinch, Jools Holland and has won two Mobo Awards for Best Jazz. In addition, YolanDa takes her music into schools, encouraging children to pick up a an instrument as part of her work for the Prince’s Trust and Yamaha Class Band.

Though YolanDa has been courted by several big labels she is perfectly positioned to remain entirely self-sufficient.Her debut album April Showers May Flowers is out now and has already topped the iTunes and Amazon jazz charts.
